In addition, shoppers who “wave” a minimum of RM50 with their Visa payWave cards at selected merchants in Midvalley Megamall are entitled to redeem GSC Movie tickets at the Visa payWave “Amazing Wave and Win” booth.
“Consumer payment preferences have evolved over the years. Besides moving to cashless, consumers increasingly want to make payments in a faster and more convenient way. Through this promotion, we hope to educate more consumers about the benefits of Visa payWave. They no longer need to spend time waiting at the checkout counters or fumble for cash. They simply need to wave their Visa payWave cards to complete their transaction, with no signatures required for purchases below RM250,” said Ng Kong Boon, Visa Country Manager for Malaysia.
“Contactless payments are also beneficial to the merchants today, as it increases productivity and reduces queues at the checkout counters. Today, Visa’s payWave contactless technology has grown tremendously in Malaysia, with over 1.5 million Visa payWave cards in issuance. The payment volume for Visa payWave cards as of December 2014 has grown over 300 per cent year-on-year and the number of transactions have increased by 100 per cent in the same period,” he added.
Merchants that have installed Visa payWave readers in Malaysia include AEON, AEON Big, Chatime, Coffee Bean, Jaya Grocer, Krispy Kreme, Mydin, Radio Shack, GSC Cinemas, KLIA Express, Sogo and more will be rolled out this year.
